The old definition of Brand states that any sign or symbol which differentiates one product from another comes under the heading of brand. But the contemporary definition which further elaborates and explicate the true essence of brand which signifies the fact that Brand is the cluster of emotional and functional attributes. Which simply steers one’s attention towards the undeniable veracity that its basically the attachment and association of the consumers with the product which helps in establishing a brand. Brand itself a core identity for providing the values to the consumers. In other words it is a symbol of quality.

A name one can associate oneself with. The concept of branding is of great importance in making the customers perceiving the brand as different. A source which one can associate with. A credible source which keeps their promise in providing values to the customers which does not only help in meeting the expectation level of the customers but also vouches for delivering the value in a way which goes above expectation levels and make the customer delighted. Brand behaves as a valuable asset for the company, which can be cashed in at the time of sell. Brand is immortal it resides in the mind of consumers forever, it never dies.

Consumer dogmatism conceptualizes the degree of rigidity versus the degree of openness. It is also considered as close mindedness versus open mindedness. This concept simple related with human psyche in explicating the different levels of human mind involved at the time of exposure to different stimuli. The response which one makes to these stimuli simply determines the mental capability of a person. The response is generated in two ways. Some people are very impervious to change while other gets influenced by the change occurs in their environment.

Every human response is change to the others. One person hails the new belief which is created by the stimuli, with knowing the fact it is contradicting to his existing belief. While other shows some rigidity to such change. Those who welcome the change are considered to be the open minded person and those who are reluctant to it considered to be close minded. It is a very important concept from the marketing point of view especially when it is the matter of strategic application of this concept from marketing perspective. Those people who are low in Consumer dogmatism, which simply symbolizes the open mindedness of a person, are considered to be the innovators. They react positively to the products which are new to the market. Those products which are filled with innovation are hailed by such type of consumers and they are usually considered to be less brand loyal with less perceived risk makes them high risk taker. Such types of consumers shift their brand preferences in a very short span of time. While on the other hand consumer with high dogmatism tends to be more brand loyal. They stick to only one credible source of value provider and do not want to incur the risk of changing the Brand. Such consumers are low in innovation.

Setting up a new venture is never too easy. It’s the task which is filled with complexities. It starts up with the identification of the marketing gap which is uncovered and untapped. Marketing plan is one of the tools which help the entrepreneur in setting up a successful venture. An entrepreneur has to first set up the marketing plan for the better understanding of the market scenarios. The marketing mix which helps the entrepreneur in making the marketing strategies for the business. After conducting the marketing research (primary and secondary).

The plan moves on to do the situation analysis for the business. In which market is defined for the business .The analysis of the marketing different situation is made, and then it’s the SWOT analysis which helps the entrepreneur to determine the strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. It also explains to the entrepreneurs the ways to transform their weaknesses into the organization’s strength. Analysis of the competitor’s product offerings is also made with the help of competitor analysis. This explicates the competitor’s standing in the market and also the strategies which they are following. Monitoring of the marketing activities is done by comparing the expected results of the sales level with the actual sales level of the business product and also the performance of the sales force at every region can be very helpful in monitoring the performance. By explaining all the elements, which is required in order to make a marketing plan. It is quite clear that without the clear understanding of the market scenarios, one wouldn’t really be able to set up a successful venture. Because it’s the marketing plan which helps in letting the entrepreneur understand regarding the true facts about the market and the feasibility of running the business in that particular market.

Those factors which exist in direct link with the company and very close to it , that affects the company’s ability to provide the value and maintaining the successful relationship with the customer comes under the heading of company’s micro environment. The micro environment comprises of the following actors.

COMPANY:

For developing the effective marketing plan many of the company groups have been put under consideration by marketing management such as (R&D) group, finance group, account operations group etc All these departments are interrelated with each other. The existence of better communication among these departments is necessary for the successful operation of the business because every department is interrelated with each other and they all must think about one thing that is providing value to the consumers.

Suppliers:

Considering suppliers as partners in the value delivering process must be of higher concern for most of the marketers because they are the ones who provide resources to the firm for the manufacturing of the goods for the further delivery of the values to the customers. A marketer should keep a close eye on the operations of the availability of the goods at the right time and come up with the solutions to deal with the other good shortages and delay problems in order to get away with the long term problem of consumer dissatisfaction.

Market intermediaries:

Those marketing actors which behave as a helping hand in the distribution of the goods and services to the end buyer of the products are termed as market intermediaries. Retailers, resellers, wholesalers and all the distribution channels involved are considered to be the market intermediaries

Competitors:

The company should strive to provide the values better than its competitors. So company should adopt such strategies which could target the untapped needs and position its offerings different from its competitors.

Customers:

Company before the commencement of it’s operation must identify the market it would like to target..e.g. consumer market, business market, government market, international markets etc.

Just noticeable difference which is also termed as differential threshold conceptualizes the identification of the difference between the two similar stimuli. Its relation with marketing is of greater importance when it comes to the strategic implication of this concept. For the better understanding of this concept, let’s take an example of the packaged fresh pulpy orange juice which is of 150 Rs. slight change in the price of it wouldn’t be noticeable by the consumers let’s say 2 Rs. increment but a change in 10 Rs would be noticeable by the consumers.

As it is explained by most of the consumer behaviourists that when it comes to the exposure of the first stimulus. If the stimulus is stronger than in that case greater the intensity of the second stimulus is required in order to be noticeable. This concept relevance to the marketing is important, when marketers has to make change in the factors which is mostly perceived by the consumers as negative such as (increase in price, reduction in quality, reduction in product size). This should lie below the just noticeable difference .the change in the above mentioned factors should be to the extent that does not effect in buyer’s purchasing behaviour pattern. Whereas, when it comes to the enhancement of the (product quality, improved packaging, lower price) their intensity level should be at or above just noticeable difference in order to be perceived by the consumers more positively.

The organized way of designing the process and analysis made for the purpose of getting the information that is in relevance with the particular marketing situation is termed as marketing research. The purpose of conducting the research sometimes can be the identification of the problem and can be done for measuring the performance of the product. It can also be conducted for the better understanding of the buyer behavior pattern, their satisfaction level, to measure the frequency of acceptability in response to the price change, product design change etc. It simply depends upon the situation. It has four steps. it stars up with the definition of the problem, moves toward developing the research plan, then implementation of the research come into play then the final stage of the interpretation of the research findings. There are two methods of collecting the data.

Secondary research:

The research which is conducted for some other purposes but company can be benefited by it. The researcher usually initiates its research with the collection of the secondary data. It is less costly and a convenient option for the researcher for obtaining the quick information e.g. A telecommunication company making feasibility report for his company and requires the quick information regarding the number of the people using mobile phones in the particular region in order to forecast the demand for its product. Company simply refers to the research conducted by the American telecommunication authority in order to get the desired information. And that information would be secondary.

Primary research:

The data collected by conducting the primary research is normally to meet the prime objective of the firm. Several approaches can be adapted in order to collect the primary data .Observational research which is primarily done by observing the people having relevance with the given situations. e.g. for the selection of the business location observation of the traffic pattern on the road and drawing conclusion out of it. Survey research which is best for gathering the descriptive information, by asking people different question regarding their preferences, attitude and buying behavior pattern. It can also be done over the phone.

Every day of the consumer starts up with different and new experiences. He gets interacted with innumerable people around him daily which results in learning that shapes one’s behaviour too .The cultural values which are inculcated by our family and the society in which we are currently living has a greater influence on one one’s ability of perceiving the things around him. The different stages of family life cycle tend to change the buying behaviour pattern of the consumers. Remembering the time when we all were kids. Parents had much control over us.

All the decisions of our lives were to be taken by our parents such as what type of clothes we will wear? What type of toys we better have? Where to go? Where not to go? They were the ones. Who were the buyers and the decision makers of us. Then the time changes, stage of bachelorhood plays its part. The preference of buying things gets changed, spending money in smoking, drinking, night clubs is normal. One wouldn’t see any bachelor investing in mutual funds, insurance and other securities but it is normal thing for the person who is living a married life. One would often see a married man while buying ladies perfume for her wife buying grocery at the general store.scuh stage of life in which Husband is accompanied by the wife and much of the buying is done by the wife for her husband. The time when you have old parents at your home buying pharmaceutical products on the regular basis would be normal. So the buying preferences get changed with the different stages of the consumer’s life cycle. So therefore a marketer before marketing its products keeps the family life cycle under their consideration the most for the better accessibility to the consumer’s needs and wants.

Brand architecture which is also termed as brand structure explicates the meaning of the Brand in much more broader way by creating and organizing the strategic relationships among the different brands exists in the Brand portfolio of the company. The concept which is strongly associated with Umbrella branding. The decision company usually takes in organizing and managing the brands. That whether the brand will be operated as a separate brand by the company or takes the identity of its parent brand.

Though it is the discretion of the company, that whether it launches the Brand as a separate brand or endorses it with parent brand or launches it as a Sub-brand. Brands that establish strong relationships with their customers end up in generating more profits for the company. The concept of Brand architecture is of highest importance to the marketers when brand extension is take place, Which results in the product renewals and ultimately to the positive brand imagery in the minds of consumers with the multiplicity of the brands in the market . At the time of Brand extensions the company determines with the help of brand architecture that how many Brand level has to be used in a Brand? And what are the linkages between these levels. In short the Brand architecture is that strategic tool, which simply structure the change comes in the brand because of the multiplicity of the brands in the form of Brand extensions which drives growth.
